We believe the application essays reveal a part of you in a way that quantitative data, like test scores or even curriculum, do not. The application essays give you a voice in the application and allows us to gain additional insight into the way students organize their thoughts, who they are, and who they might become.

The Common Application has five essay prompts including a topic of the student's choice--we want to hear about what is important to you! (Students may submit supplemental essays or other creative samples if you feel too constrained by the topics or word limitations of the application.) Either way, the essay should be carefully prepared as it represents a major component of the application to Beloit.

A great essay is not enough to overcome poor classroom performance, but for many applicants it becomes the most memorable part of the application for our counselors. A well done essay can positively affect the admissions decision.
